CAPS Staff Bios (Macon)
Emily Piassick, Ph.D.
Dr. Piassick received her doctoral degree in counseling psychology and her master's degree in higher education counseling from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Piassick completed her internship at the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center. Prior to coming to Mercer, she was employed as a counselor at the YWCA of Greater Austin: Women's Counseling and Referral Center.
Corey Wetzel, M.A. LPC
Corey recently moved to Macon from Chicago where she received her undergraduate degree at Loyola University of Chicago in Psychology and Sociology. From there, Corey went on to obtain her Master’s in Community Counseling from Argosy University in Chicago. Corey worked in both a community mental health center and private practice for seven years before moving to Macon. Corey is excited to be part of a University atmosphere and assisting students with the many life challenges they might face during their college experience.
Ruvan Weerasuriya, LMFT
Ruvan's childhood was spent in several locations prior to moving to Macon. He graduated from Central High School and received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. Afterwards he returned to Macon and obtained his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Mercer University. Over the past ten years he has worked with the families of teenagers on juvenile probation, in an inpatient pediatric psychiatric facility, and in a community mental health center with young adults experiencing psychosis. In his free time, Ruvan likes cooking, traveling, reading, watching movies, and karaoke.
Grace received her B.F.A. From Birmingham-Southern College in 2009 and her Masters of Divinity from Emory University in 2014. She completed her coursework from Mercer University's Marriage and Family Therapy program in 2019 and is currently working towards her licensure. In her free time she loves to hike with her dog, read, travel, and spend time with friends.
Rebecca Clark, M.S.
Rebecca is a native to South Georgia and received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Valdosta State University in 2017. She has obtained her Master’s degree in Health Psychology from Mercer University and is currently completing the Mercer’s Clinical Medical Psychology Doctoral Program. In her spare time Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors and traveling.
Ginger received her BA in Community Service and Leadership from Mercer University in 2010. Since then, she has worked in the medical field and has 12+ years of experience serving patients and clients in various capacities.
As a Macon native, one of her favorite activities is eating at the various restaurants downtown and people-watching. Ginger also enjoys reading, walking, attending church, and spending time with her husband and two teen-aged daughters.
